Senate and House Pass Parity!
Congratulations to all organizations and their members who have worked so hard for years to pass parity for mental health and addiction services. Today the Senate and House each passed parity legislation by strong vote margins.
The Senate vote was 83 to 12.
Floor vote to waive a Budget Act point of order against and pass the Baucus/Grassley amendment #5635, combining the House/Senate agreement on parity (the Paul Welistone and Pete Domenici MH Parity & Addiction Equity Act of 2008) with tax extenders, AMT and disaster relief.
The House vote was 376 to 47.
House passage of H.R. 6983, the Paul Welistone and Pete Domenici MH Parity & Addiction Equity Act of 2008.
